(more) About this blog: Climate change, despite its huge impact on the planet, is still an abstract concept for many of us . This needs to be changed. I hope that readers of this blog will have a better understanding of how our climate has evolved and how they want to respond, and will feel comfortable asking questions and exchanging opinions on this topic. It is important that we reach a consensus on the basic science and impact of climate change in order to understand our future actions and policy choices. My background is not climate science, and I am not even particularly green; I hope this helps make this blog more relevant. I studied mathematics and neurobiology on the east coast, and then moved here in 1987 to study at the Graduate School of Computer Science. After working in the technology industry for about 25 years, I retired a few years ago to better align my time with my priorities. I like spending time outdoors and deeply feel our responsibility to this incredible planet we call home. (hide)

I totally agree with this view and general premise. We are the main family of everything you write: a 10-year-old water heater, a 20-year-old stove, a large south-facing roof. But apart from the PowerPoint bullets, I don't see any encouragement in the CPA. In the case of residential solar energy, it is discouraged or counter-encouraged. Palo Alto has more than 20,000 households. If the goal is 2030, you should be able to see 3-4 installation methods, just walk around the block. Every block. The next 9 years. If 2030 is the goal, in my opinion, the city is just verbal. Thank you for emphasizing this point.
